PROJECT FEATURE: ‘VIOLET’ BY MYLES BAILEY

‘This was my final project in my last year of college. It’s called Violet because I was inspired by some of Daniel Caesar’s lyrics; “Don’t cut your journey short, not anymore, you beautiful boy…”

I thought the term ‘beautiful boy’ was interesting, because boys aren’t traditionally beautiful, so I wanted to explore the masculine experience for different people – more so men, but women were not exempt from this project (however I can’t show the one piece that has a woman as the subject for privacy reasons).

For this series, I took inspiration from photographers such as Jim Goldberg, Chloe Sheppard & Rosie Matheson and have managed to create my own distinct style.’
